Okay, but don't most people skip prologues anyways? Would you recommend the same "don't start from the POV of a character we will never see again" rule?

Like in The Cruel Prince series, the first book starts out with the prologue. It's important because the main character's parents are murdered.

I thought that mine would be a stand alone book. Until I really got involved into the story and the characters. That was the point when I realized that it will be a series. There are so much more ideas and stories in my head about this that I decided to make it a four volume series. Or quadrilogy? 😂 There is so much potential in it that the idea of more than one book creeped up on me.

'Because you love writing.' So true! I once thought that, due to my religious beliefs, I wouldn't be allowed to write anymore. That thought actually brought me to tears! My mum set me straight and I'm currently in the process of a draft 1. But that cements that I really do love to write, even if it doesn't always feel that way.

I write a story about an intelligent character with no internal conflict until something happens that brings horror to her life. She discovers secrets and she found out she's in danger. Will it be fine if my character has no internal conflict but focuses more on her finding out about the answers of the horror and finding solution? She's still maybe relatable in a way that she lives in a regular life because she find her ability not very stressful because she loves being intelligent and helping people using it? Not the typical character who feels pressure to excel at everything?

Huh I didn't realize that some people don't notice hyphenated line breaks. I always ALWAYS notice. I read a lot and hyphenated line breaks can make me disinterested in a book. After a second or third hyphen on a page I start counting them which in my ADHD brain means I am counting not reading, then I lose my place and have to start the page over again. Same with en and em dashes. They totally pull me out of reading the words as I start wondering why the author or editor used a dash instead of a comma or semicolon, then I am wondering about the punctuation choices not reading. And in my ADHD brain it means I lose my reading place then have to start the page over again. If that continues to happen during personal reading time, then my brain is going to get frustrated reading that particular book, it becomes not worth the effort to read page after page two or three times due to built-in distractions. I'll put that book down and never think about it again, I won't recommend the book to people, I won't even be able to review the book-it will simply disappear from my memory and consciousness. *poof* gone forever.

This feels…kinda condescending?? Especially the ones who’ve only ever written in google docs. Like, the title at least. But ig good for the visual planners who use google docs and can now scratch that itch??? (Actually no, it just feels like I’m being talked down to (didn’t everyone learn to use gd in school??? I’m genuinely so confused.))

Currently writing an anthology of poetry about a requited soul. This music really helps delve myself into a thought process to expand my perception of what I am writing in terms of a philosophical understanding. The understanding part is more so viewing outside life- our immediate reality with our 5 senses itself and thinking ourselves as an energy just by emotion and will. Somber piano music seems to do the trick compared to a violin. Not that the violin can't envoke such, but piano allows a single instrument to have ten notes to be played at the same time (usually 3-4 notes are played at the same time) whereas a violin can't offer that so I view it as more versatile to fit with the strangeness of being human.

For me I would rather have someone else talk about my work when I do it for some odd reason I get called a thief because they like my idea or content then a bunch of drama unfolds unfortunately. Also the time spent on social media I feel a lot of it is wasted time of unwanted comparisons, with a lot of the people who I spoke with in the past few years who took my advice. Found a new sense of peace and happiness and got back to enjoying their lives in private. I’m not saying this advice is for everyone it’s really cool to connect with people across the globe. Social media has its advantages and disadvantages. It really comes down to how you use it and how does that content affect you. Anyway with all the past history of drama I would rather have someone else do it while I could focus on balancing and or thriving in other areas of my life.

If I might offer some feedback, I thoroughly enjoyed your breakdown of the scenes, and your emoji game is on point! That said, I would have loved to see both scenes first before you jumped into the discussion. I find the constant starting and stopping frustrating and distracting when trying to establish an opinion on something, and it was pretty clear from the start which one you favored. I'm sure you have to consider total video length, but if it doesn't add too much time, I would have found that setup more engaging. Overall, though, I found your video quite interesting and informative. Thank you for sharing!

I agree with all of this, very well said! I want to play devil’s advocate here with a counterpoint that has always confused me: What would you say to movies that employed this technique to such an extreme that there are huge tonal shifts and inconsistencies. Ie: a movie like Transformers 6, which bounces between 18 emotional ideas/tones in 5 seconds of screen time that it becomes exhausting 😂

About trigger warnings. That's one of my fears too. There are about 200 dark mages in my universe. Potentially if they gather enough strength and work together, they can bring someone back to life. I'm scared if I say nothing about it, the reader's gonna think "ok...we can bring people back now?🙄" but if I do say that that's something that can happen, they'll just know it will happen at some point and I'm scared any death will be underwhelming because the reader will think the dark mages can bring them back. I'm so torn😂

I think that the Series of Unfortunate Events books are told in kind of a mesh between 3rd person omniscient and 1st person, which works really well
